Neck Pain Stretches and Exercises – Ask Centex Rehab!

I want to talk to you today about neck pain. Many of you, including myself have neck pain from sitting at a desk and looking down at a computer all day. I want to show you a couple of things that you could do to make that a little bit better. We almost all do the typical stretch in which we put our head to the side and hold it down. I’ve got jasmine here and we are going to show you something a little bit different to do. It’s called the armpit stretch.

What she is going to do is turn her head to the side, towards her armpit. Then, using her hand, pull it down. You can do it on both sides. It is important that you hold it for 30 seconds. Most people do not hold the stretch nearly long enough to get the maximum benefit of the stretch.

The next stretch I want to show you is called the chin tuck. Jasmine is going to turn to the side and pull her chin back keeping her neck stationary. Again, hold that for 30 seconds. Be sure and do this periodically throughout the day. If you do these stretches, you should start to experience much less neck pain throughout the day.
